When I first started using my Amazfit Bip 6, I thought I had the basics down—set up a watch face, track some steps, done. But wow, I was missing out.
Turns out, this little watch has some powerful features that most people never even notice.
Once I started digging around, I found settings that made my daily routine way easier—and honestly, a lot more fun.
Here are 9 of my favorite hidden features that I wish I had found sooner. If you use a Bip 6, these tips might just surprise you, too.
1. Wrist Lock = Privacy on Point

Ever handed your watch to someone, then realized all your messages and health info were on display? Not great.
That’s why I turned on Wrist Lock right away. Now, the watch locks when I take it off, and only I can unlock it with a passcode.
How to turn it on:
- Go to Settings > Preferences > Wrist Lock
- Set your code, and you’re good to go
Now I feel better leaving it on my desk or taking it off at the gym.
2. Offline Voice Control — No Wi-Fi Needed

This one surprised me. You can control the Bip 6 with your voice—even if your phone isn’t nearby and there’s no Wi-Fi.
I use it to start workouts, mute notifications, or open apps without touching anything.
Set it up:
- Go to Settings > Voice Assistant > Offline Voice Control
- Pick how long it listens (I use 15 seconds)
- Choose your language (English works great)
You’ll see three wake-up mode options:
- Respond within five seconds of turning your wrist (max battery saver)
- Respond within five seconds after the screen lights up
- Respond within 15 seconds after the screen lights up (uses more battery)
I usually pick the second or third option, depending on how much battery I want to save.
Now I just say “Start workout” or “Turn on DND,” and it works like magic.
Available Voice Commands:
- System controls: watch face, do not disturb, battery saver, theater mode, volume control, brightness control
- App controls: open calendar, open workouts
- Workout controls: start running, pause running
- Alarm, timer, and reminder controls
You can even change the language for offline controls.
3. Customizing App View and Screen Orientation

I love options, and the Bip 6 lets me tweak how I use the watch visually.
Switch Between List View and Grid View: If you like seeing icons in a grid (think smartphone-style) rather than a scrollable list:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Preferences.
- Select App View.
- Choose Grid View for a tile layout, or List View for the classic scrolling list.
Switching to grid view makes it easier for me to tap apps quickly, especially when I’m in a hurry.
Change Screen Orientation: This is perfect for lefties or righties:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Preferences, then Varying Direction.
- Choose if the buttons should be on the right or left.
- The screen rotates, keeping the buttons on the outside edge of your wrist.
Whether I wear my watch on the left or right arm, it’s always comfortable and accessible.
4. Multiple Timers = My Secret Weapon

Whether I’m cooking, working out, or doing chores, I always need timers. And the Bip 6 lets me run more than one at the same time.
How it works:
- Open the Timer app
- Tap the “+” to add new timers
- Start, pause, or stop each one on its own
This is one of the most useful features I never knew I needed.
5. Sleep Schedule That Helps

I’ve been trying to sleep better, and the Bip 6 made it easier to stick to a routine.
You can set a bedtime and wake-up goal, get reminders to wind down, and even set a vibration alarm that doesn’t wake up anyone else.
Sleep Metrics You’ll See:
- Sleep time
- Wake-up time
- REM
- Light sleep
- Deep sleep
Where to find it:
- Sleep app > Settings > Sleep Schedule
Now I wake up feeling more rested—and I’m sleeping on time.
6. Workout Customization and Advanced Settings

The Bip 6 offers a workout toolkit that’s better than many pricier watches. I can tailor almost every element to fit my training plan.
I’m no pro athlete, but I still like tracking my runs and walks. The Bip 6 lets me set goals for distance or calories, pause automatically when I stop, and even use a Virtual Pacer to keep a steady speed.
Setting Workout Goals and Alerts
To customize workouts:
- Open Workouts.
- Choose your activity (e.g., Treadmill).
- Tap Settings and then Assistant.
Here you can:
- Set workout goals (distance, time, calories)
- Turn on workout alerts for heart rate zones, distance targets, and more
- Enable auto lap (distance or time)
- Activate auto pause (by pace or when still)
- Use a virtual pacer to keep a steady pace
- Add cadence assistance for step frequency
Interval Training Setup
I set up intervals for sprint sessions by:
- Choosing training time, rest, and number of loops
- Adding a cool-down period if needed
Everything updates instantly, so I’m always in control.
Customizing Workout Data Pages

Want to see more than heart rate? Here’s how:
- While setting up a workout, tap More.
- Select which data you want on each page: duration, distance, heart rate, pace, average pace, cadence, average cadence, calories, training effect.
- Add or remove pages depending on what helps you track your session best.
Activity-Specific Settings
Different sports? No problem:
- For pool swimming, set lane length (25m, 50m, 25yd, or custom)
- Enable autolap or configure aerobic/anaerobic thresholds
- Set duration, calorie goals, or conditional pause
All workouts have their own contextual settings, so I get options that make sense for each activity. For an $80 watch, that’s a lot of training flexibility.
7. The Compass Helps Outdoors

I didn’t think I’d use the compass much… until I got a little lost on a trail.
You can lock a direction, and the watch tells you how far off you are. Great for hiking or even long walks in new areas.
Try it:
- Open the Compass app
- Calibrate it when asked
- Tap the lock icon to set your direction
It’s saved me more than once.
8. Want the Screen to Stay On Longer? Easy Fix
I hate when the screen turns off while I’m cooking or following a map. But thankfully, you can keep the display on for up to 20 minutes.
To do it:
- Swipe down to open Quick Settings
- Tap the screen icon
- Pick how long it should stay on
Just don’t forget—Longer screen times uses more battery, so I only turn it on when I need it.
