Hardware and Design Details

Watch Dimensions and Weight

The Bip 6 measures 46 mm in height, 40.5 mm in width, and approximately 10.5 mm in thickness, excluding the heart rate sensor.

Including the sensor, it’s around 11.9 mm thick, and just 28 grams in weight, making it very light and comfortable for all-day wear, including during sleep.

For comparison:

  • Garmin Fenix 8 (47 mm): Heavier and built for rugged use.
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2: Bigger, heavier, and much more expensive.
  • Amazfit T-Rex 3: Bulkier, designed for adventure.
  • Apple Watch Series 10: Sleek but pricier.

The Bip 6 sits comfortably in the middle in terms of size and weight, making it an easy fit for most wrists.

Materials and Build

Bip 6 comes with an aluminum bezel that gives a solid feel around the edges, while the back case is made of plastic. This combo keeps the watch lightweight but still sturdy.

The Bip 6 is rated waterproof up to 5 ATM (50 meters), which means it’s fine for showers and swimming. It should not be used for scuba diving or deep-water activities.

Bands and Comfort

Close-up of Amazfit Bip 6's breathable silicone strap with quick-release pin

The watch comes with a silicone pass-through style band. This band slides through itself like an Apple Watch strap, locking neatly in place and hiding excess strap length.

It’s stretchy, perforated with lots of holes for breathability, and easy to clean. The band also uses a quick-release system, so swapping it out for a different band is simple.

The overall feel is soft and comfortable, and wearing this watch to bed feels unobtrusive.

Sensors and Charging

On the back, there’s the latest generation optical heart rate sensor called Bio Sensor PPG. The watch also has:

  • Accelerometer
  • Gyroscope
  • Ambient light sensor (adjusts screen brightness)
  • Magnetic compass

A downside is the lack of a barometric altimeter, which means no real-time elevation data during hikes or runs. Elevation info is only available after syncing to the phone.

The Bip 6 uses a magnetic charging puck with a USB-C port. The puck sticks firmly to the back.

Interestingly, the box doesn’t include a charging cable, so one has to use their own USB-C cable.

Hardware Summary:

  • Dimensions: 46 x 40.5 x 10.5 mm (11.9 mm with HR sensor)
  • Weight: 28g
  • Waterproof: 5 ATM
  • Materials: Aluminum bezel, plastic back
  • Sensors: Optical HR, accelerometer, gyroscope, light sensor, compass
  • Charging: Magnetic USB-C puck (no cable included)

The combination of size, weight, and sensor suite makes the Bip 6 a comfortable, capable watch without going overboard on bulk.

Display Features and User Interface

Display Specs and Quality

The Bip 6 sports a 1.97-inch AMOLED touchscreen, making it larger than the display on the Apple Watch Ultra 2.

The glass has an anti-fingerprint coating but is very reflective, which can dull the screen a bit in bright conditions or under direct light.

Still, at a brightness of up to 2,000 nits, the screen remains easy to read outdoors even in sunlight.

The watch supports an always-on display option, giving you quick info at a glance without waking it up.

User Interface and Navigation

Powered by Zepp OS 5, the Bip 6 interface feels smooth and responsive. Swipes, taps, and screen changes happen instantly, with no noticeable lag.

Watch faces are fully customizable—simply press and hold the current face, then swipe to cycle through dozens of installed options.

Notifications show up with small app icons, which is neat because even competitor apps have unique icons here. This quick visual helps recognize alerts at a glance.

The two side buttons have clear roles:

  • Lower button: Opens the activity menu (running, walking, cycling, etc.)
  • Upper button: Opens the app menu with health stats, maps, settings, and more

Music Features and Storage

The watch has limited internal storage (about 200MB shared between apps, maps, and music). This means only a small selection of MP3s can be saved at once.

Users can sync music to the watch via the Zepp app and control Bluetooth playback directly from the watch without touching their phone. Control options include pause/play, skip, and volume adjustments.

Minor issues include the reflective glass and limited music storage, but both are understandable trade-offs at this price.

Health, Wellness, and App Integration

Health Metrics on the Watch

The Bip 6 includes a detailed suite of health data:

  • Readiness score: Ranges between 0 and 100, showing how prepared the body is for physical activity based on sleep, heart rate variability (HRV), recovery, and resting heart rate.
  • Sleep tracking: Displays a sleep score, sleep stages, and interruptions.
  • Stress tracking: Monitors daily stress levels.
  • Real-time heart rate: Shown directly on the watch face or widget.

The readiness score includes written insights explaining the numbers in simple terms so users can understand what to focus on.

Zepp Health App Enhancements

The Bip 6 syncs all data to the Zepp Health app, which has improved a lot recently.

The interface is clear and easy to navigate, showing metrics like sleep, readiness, exertion scores, training load, recovery time, and estimates of VO2 max.

Training and Recovery Insights

Advanced workout metrics include:

  • Estimated VO2 max
  • Training load
  • Recovery time

These features are usually found on pricier devices, so it’s impressive to see them on the Bip 6.

The watch includes Zepp Aura, an AI sleep assistant with breathing exercises and sleep-friendly music to help improve rest quality.

Notifications and Widgets

The Homescreen widgets scroll through key data:

  • Step count, active time, and standing time
  • Weather with simple rain animation
  • Heart rate
  • Phone app for calls, contacts, and dialing

Overall, the health and wellness tracking is quite thorough for the price.

Speaker, Microphone, and AI Assistant

Speaker and Microphone Use Cases

The Bip 6 features a built-in speaker and microphone, allowing users to take and make phone calls directly from the watch.

It also supports recording voice memos that automatically sync to the paired phone for easy access.

The speaker is clear but not very loud. In noisy places, it might be hard to hear calls unless the watch is held close to the ear.

Zepp Flow AI Assistant

Zepp Flow is an AI voice assistant built into the Bip 6, using ChatGPT technology for many tasks, such as:

  • Adjusting watch settings (brightness, volume)
  • Answering questions about weather, fitness stats, or trivia
  • Offering workout suggestions

It can handle natural language commands and provides helpful responses.

Activity Profiles, Sports, and Customization

Activity Profile Variety

The Bip 6 supports over 140 different activity profiles, like running and cycling, to niche sports like:

  • Hyrox (a mix of CrossFit and racing)
  • Ballet
  • Belly dancing
  • Chess and checkers (tracked for fun or timing)

Each profile mainly helps categorize workouts but shares similar data metrics.

Workout Features and Settings

Within each activity, users get:

  • Interval training setups
  • Assistant and coaching features
  • Navigation and route guidance
  • Up to 4 data fields per screen (heart rate, pace, cadence, etc.)
  • Heart rate broadcasting to external devices

The watch also pairs with external heart rate sensors like ECG chest straps or fitness bands such as Whoop.

Night Safety Light Feature

A handy, unique feature is the Night Safety Light. If you activate, the watch screen lights up continuously during nighttime runs to make the wearer more visible to drivers or pedestrians.

There’s even a preview mode to see how it looks in the dark.

Navigation, Maps, and GPS Performance

Offline Maps and Navigation

The Bip 6 supports offline maps, which is rare at this price level. To use this:

  • Download map tiles for specific regions (up to 200 miles wide) via the Zepp app
  • Sync maps to the watch and access maps standalone or during workouts

The maps display detailed features, including road names, trails, water bodies, and parks.

GPS Accuracy and Limitations

The watch uses single-band GPS, unlike more expensive watches that have dual-frequency GPS for better accuracy.

Testing showed:

  • Some GPS drift in tricky areas
  • Distance measurement was extremely close to that of a high-end Garmin watch (within 0.01 miles)

For casual runners and hikers, the GPS accuracy is more than enough.

Final Thoughts: The Amazfit Bip 6 Is a Surprisingly Strong Contender

Let’s face it — at just $79, the Amazfit Bip 6 doesn’t compete with more expensive smartwatches… it straight-up challenges them.

You’re not just buying a “budget watch” here — you’re getting a feature-rich, thoughtfully designed wearable that offers incredible value for money.

It’s lightweight, comfortable to wear all day, and that AMOLED screen? Crisp and beautiful. You get built-in GPS, solid heart rate tracking, sleep and stress monitoring, and even an AI assistant powered by ChatGPT (yep, really). Plus, the battery life goes for days — and then some.

Sure, it’s missing a couple of extras like built-in music storage and a barometric altimeter, but honestly, for this price, those are easy to overlook. It nails what matters most: accurate tracking, solid performance, and usability that makes sense.

If you’re someone who wants a smartwatch that actually feels smart—without emptying your wallet—the Amazfit Bip 6 is an easy recommendation.

Have you used the Bip 6 (or another Amazfit watch)? We’d love to hear from you. Share your thoughts in the comments — what impressed you, what didn’t, and would you recommend it to a friend? Your input is invaluable and can help others make the right choice, too.
