Just a few weeks ago, searching for “Amazfit Helio Strap 2” would have led you to dozens of articles claiming Amazfit was preparing a screenless fitness tracker to compete with the Fitbit Air. Most of them pointed to the same FCC filing—model numbers A2671 and A2672—as the evidence. It sounded convincing at the time, but once the real product launched, it became clear those filings had been misinterpreted.
I want to walk through why that never happened, and what those model numbers actually belonged to — because it’s a good example of how a wearables leak can snowball into “fact” before anyone circles back to check it.
The Short Answer
There is no Amazfit Helio Strap 2. The FCC filing everyone pinned that name to (A2671/A2672) turned out to belong to the Helio Strap Pro, which launched on June 18, 2026. A2671 is the Helio Core Motion HR — the arm sensor. A2672 is the Helio Core Motion Waist — the new motion pod. Same filing, two components, misread as a whole new product line.
The Helio Strap Pro isn’t the best choice for everyone. If you’re looking at other options, I put together a Best Amazfit Watches (2026): For Men, Women, iPhone Users & Long Battery Life guide that compares the full lineup and makes it easier to find the right Amazfit watch.
How the Confusion Started
Back in late May, Zepp Health (Amazfit’s parent company) filed FCC paperwork for a “Smart Sensor” with two model numbers.

The listing didn’t include a product name — FCC filings almost never do this far out — so outlets had to guess based on the specs visible in the paperwork: a small rectangular module, Bluetooth Low Energy only, roughly 230mAh battery, 5 ATM rating.
That description lined up closely enough with the original Helio Strap that the obvious conclusion was “sequel.” Amazfit’s own CFO had already said on an earnings call that a next-generation Helio product was coming in the second half of 2026, so the timing fit too.
Several sites ran with “Helio Strap 2,” and once one or two credible outlets used that name, it stuck everywhere else that covered it.
The problem: nobody had actually confirmed the name. It was an educated guess dressed up as a leak.
What A2671 and A2672 Actually Were
Fast forward to June 18. Amazfit unveiled the Helio Strap Pro at the HYROX World Championship in Stockholm — and the hardware matched the FCC filing almost exactly. Two separate sensor modules, not one device with two variants:
- Helio Core Motion HR (A2671) — worn on the upper arm or wrist, handles continuous heart rate, SpO2, sleep, and HRV
- Helio Core Motion Waist (A2672) — a new 9-axis motion sensor clipped to the waist, tracking core movement and stability during training
Once outlets who’d covered the original FCC leak went back and compared notes, the connection was obvious. Gadgets & Wearables was one of the first to walk it back publicly, noting plainly that the earlier FCC paperwork pointed to the Pro system rather than a sequel strap.
A Reddit thread on r/amazfit picked up on the same thing independently, with commenters noticing the “with heart rate monitoring” and “without heart rate monitoring” language in the filing lined up with the HR sensor and waist pod rather than two versions of the same tracker.
So if you read a “Helio Strap 2 leaked” headline from May or early June, that was actually the Helio Strap Pro leaking — just under the wrong name.
Is a Real Helio Strap 2 Still Coming?
Maybe, eventually. Amazfit’s CFO comment about a “next-generation Helio Strap” coming in H2 2026 hasn’t been formally retracted, and it’s entirely possible that comment was simply referring to what became the Strap Pro.
Right now there’s no separate FCC filing, no app code reference, and no regulatory trail pointing to a distinct, simpler “Helio Strap 2” the way there was — mistakenly — a few weeks ago.
If I had to guess: Amazfit just shipped its “next-generation Helio,” and it’s called the Helio Strap Pro. I wouldn’t hold your breath for a second, cheaper sequel this year. If something changes, I’ll update this page.
Helio Strap Pro vs. What People Expected From “Helio Strap 2”
This mix-up matters because the two products aren’t really aimed at the same buyer. Here’s the difference in plain terms:
| What people expected from “Helio Strap 2” | What actually shipped (Helio Strap Pro) | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Budget, Fitbit Air-style (~$99–$130) | $199.99 |
| Design | Single screenless band | Two-part system: arm sensor + waist pod |
| Target user | Everyday tracking, casual buyer | HYROX and hybrid-training athletes |
| Watch required | No | Yes — Balance 3 or Balance Ultra for full features |
| Subscription | None | None |
If you were hoping for a cheap, no-frills Whoop-style band from Amazfit, the Pro isn’t really that product. I covered the Pro in detail in my full Helio Strap Pro review — short version, it’s genuinely excellent if you compete in HYROX and already own a Balance 3 or Balance Ultra, and not particularly worth it if you don’t.
The Bigger Lesson Here
I’ve been covering wearable leaks for a while now, and this one is a decent reminder of how these stories move. An FCC filing shows up with no product name attached. A journalist makes a reasonable guess based on specs and timing. Other outlets repeat that guess because it’s already “out there.”
A few weeks later, the actual product launches and the original guess quietly turns out to be wrong — but by then the incorrect name has already been indexed, shared, and cited a dozen times over.
None of the sites that reported “Helio Strap 2” were being careless, exactly. The specs really did point in a reasonable direction. But it’s a useful case study in why FCC filings alone are a weak signal for a product name — they’re much better at confirming that something is coming than at telling you what it’s actually called.
Quick FAQ
Is there an Amazfit Helio Strap 2?
No, not currently. The FCC filing widely reported as “Helio Strap 2” (model numbers A2671 and A2672) actually belonged to the Helio Strap Pro’s two components, not a separate product.
What is model number A2671?
A2671 is the Helio Core Motion HR, the arm-worn heart rate sensor included in the Amazfit Helio Strap Pro.
What is model number A2672?
A2672 is the Helio Core Motion Waist, the 9-axis motion sensor that clips to the waist as part of the Helio Strap Pro system.
When did the Helio Strap Pro launch?
Amazfit unveiled the Helio Strap Pro on June 18, 2026, at the HYROX World Championship in Stockholm. US pre-orders opened the same week at $199.99, with shipping starting June 25, 2026.
Will Amazfit release a Helio Strap 2 later?
It’s possible, but there’s no current evidence pointing to one. The regulatory trail that was previously attributed to a “Helio Strap 2” turned out to belong to the Pro. If Amazfit files new FCC paperwork for a distinct product, we’ll cover it here.
