Amazfit has rolled out a major October 2025 firmware update (version 6.3.10.4) for the Active 2 smartwatch. This upgrade brings advanced fitness tracking features and everyday usability improvements to the watch.
Key highlights include new running form metrics, a built-in screenshot function, additional sport modes and reminders, updated heart-rate icons, and smoother workout controls. Below, we break down all the notable changes so you can get the most out of your Active 2.
- Advanced running metrics: Vertical oscillation and ground contact time for better form analysis.
- Screenshot feature: Capture your watch face by pressing the two side buttons together.
- New workouts & reminders: Added Ultra-Marathon, HIIT, and HYROX modes plus jump-rope reminders.
- Improved HR display: Distinct icons show if heart rate is measured on-wrist or via a Bluetooth chest strap.
- Enhanced controls: Auto screen-unlock on wrist raise and more responsive buttons during exercise.
- Phased rollout: Update is being pushed in stages – watch for the notification in your Zepp app.
Advanced Running Analytics
The Active 2 now delivers detailed running form insights once reserved for high-end sports watches.

Two new metrics appear in your workout data: Vertical Oscillation (how much your body bounces with each stride) and Ground Contact Time (how long each foot stays on the ground while running).
Lower vertical oscillation and shorter ground contact time are generally linked to more efficient, quicker running.
By tracking these values, you can see how your form is changing over time and adjust your technique for a smoother, more powerful run.
These metrics are displayed in the workout history on the watch (see image above), giving runners concrete feedback on stride dynamics. Amazfit notes that having this data can help you “adjust your stride, make your running smoother, and work toward stronger overall performance”.
With version 6.3.10.4 installed, the Active 2 becomes a more capable training partner, empowering serious runners to fine-tune their efficiency using the same kind of data typically found on premium GPS watches.
Enhanced Usability & Controls
In addition to fitness features, the 6.3.10.4 update makes everyday use of the Active 2 more convenient. One long-awaited addition is the Button-Activated Screenshot.

Now you can snap a photo of any screen (for example, a training summary or custom watch face) by pressing both physical buttons at once.
This instantly saves the current display to your watch’s memory. As Amazfit explains, “when you hit a new record—or just want to save a special moment—the button-activated screenshot makes it easy to capture and share instantly.”
Alongside screenshots, the update fine-tunes workout navigation. During an active exercise, the screen will auto-unlock when you raise your wrist, and the buttons remain responsive even if the display is off.
In practice, this means you can quickly scroll or press buttons without waiting for a delay, streamlining control mid-workout. These quality-of-life improvements – combined with the screenshot shortcut – greatly enhance the watch’s usability for both fitness and everyday tasks.
New Workout Modes & Heart-Rate Icons
firmware v6.3.10.4 also beefs up the Active 2’s exercise arsenal. Amazfit has added new workout modes, including Ultra-Marathon, HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), and HYROX training sessions.

These additions expand the watch’s built-in activity profiles, catering to endurance athletes and gym-goers alike. To keep you on track, the watch can now also issue jump-rope reminders during the dedicated jump-rope workout, helping you stick to your routine.
Heart-rate monitoring visuals have been improved, too. The update introduces distinct icons that indicate whether your heart rate is being measured by the watch’s optical sensor or by a connected Bluetooth heart-rate strap.
This subtle but useful change makes it immediately clear on-screen when an external chest strap or arm band is linked and transmitting data. Such clarity is particularly handy during intense workouts when switching sensors for greater accuracy.
Phased Rollout & Getting the Update
Amazfit is releasing firmware v6.3.10.4 in phases, so that the timing can vary by region. Early adopters in the US, Canada, and China may see the update first, followed by a wider global launch (much like the previous 6.3.8.3 rollout).
To install the update, make sure your Zepp Health app is updated (version 9.13 or later) and then check the Active 2’s settings for the firmware update prompt. You’ll receive a notification when the update is available to download.
Until then, keep an eye on the Zepp app. Once firmware v6.3.10.4 arrives, the process is straightforward – connect your watch via Bluetooth and tap through the update screens.
After installation, your Active 2 will immediately benefit from the new metrics, features, and optimizations described above. With firmware v6.3.10.4 installed, Amazfit Active 2 users can enjoy a more powerful and polished experience on every workout.
